Grow Garden Grow

New Project! If you have kids that want to be part of a big tile mural for the new Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in downtown Grand Rapids, here is their chance! I am working with kids of all ages to make this 9'x5' tile mural (with the space between the panels, it is 11'x5'). High school and middle school kids gave me their opinions on what kinds of things should be in the garden, elementary school kids did some drawings of the veggies and plants, I came up with the finial design, and now we are making tile!

Kids get to make patterns and textures on the wet clay tiles and then I will assemble the tiles into the mural. It is kind of like a giant puzzle that we are making the pieces for.

So far the kids I have worked with have got to make their own stamp to press into the clay and then they have used natural objects to finish off their designs. Then they got to use their stamp to make a card or bracelet to take with them.

More updates to follow.... And if I get my act together, photos!

Reality Does Not Suck (All the time)

Oh, how the blog suffers when the real world happens!

Dear World, I promise I will update this blog with PHOTOS of current projects next week!
